MR. MWAI KIBAKI - V.PRESIDENT KATHAUNA MERU, KENYA. GABIONS -1983 Kenya Vice-President Mwai Kibaki, also Minister for Home Affairs, demonstrates Kenya's Harambee spirit as he joins with President Daniel arap Moi and hundreds of Kenyans in the fight to save soil and water in the Kathuana district of Meru, on the slopes of Mount Kenya. Mr Kibaki is seen helping to fill one of 20 gabions built to halt gulley erosion in the area. Pic by S. A. Azim
