Simone Armour, the mother of his nine-month old son Gideon, is officially married to a man in London; three year-old Tessa and eight year-old Hugo are the children of that marriage. The little black boy is an orphan that Lionel Attwell and Simone adopted unofficially which brought investigations from the police; now Lionel Attwell has asked to be reclassified as Black, so that he can become one of the "exploited, humiliated, degraded, a non-White, so that at least I can share their wretchedness".
