Copper:

folder 2 (fols. 1-63) Palabora Mining Co. Ltd.: Extracts from minutes, personal, and official correspondence, and press cuttings about the formation of this company by the Rio Tinto-Zinc Corporation, Newmont Mining, and others, and its development of the vast low-grade copper ore body in the Phalaborwa district of Northern Transvaal (South Africa) (handlist enclosed), 1957-1964.

Diamonds:

folder 3 (fols. 1-32, items 1-2) printed documents relating to sale of New Jagersfontein Mining & Exploration Co. Ltd.'s diamonds; also, copies of correspondence between Central Mining's London and Johannesburg offices about investing in Treasure Trove Diamonds Ltd., a Lichtenburg venture, and the effect of the Alluvial Diamond Bill on company claims (contains detailed handlist), 1913 and 1926-1927.

Mica:

folder 4 (fols. 1-8) one early press cutting on the Northern Transvaal (South Africa) mica deposit at Maury Mine, and extracts from Transvaal Consolidated's minutes on Mica Siding, a deposit in the Zoutspansberg district, 1925; 1951-1952; and 1954.

Nickel:

folder 5 (fols. 1-137) copies of correspondence, memoranda, and press cuttings about nickel occurrences in the districts of Rustenberg (Vlakfontein, Pilansberg), East Griqualand (Insizwa); Marico, and Barbeton (Noordkaap), 1925-1929; 1941-1942; 1947-1951; 1956-1959; and 1961-1964.

Platinum:

folder 6 (fols. 1-205, items 1-2) copies of correspondence and memoranda about the discovery of platinum in the Transvaal (Limpopo, Gauteng, Mpumalanga, North West); its mining at Onverwacht by the Group's Onverwacht Platinum Ltd., and problems of refining and the sale of the product; also, some printed annual reports, correspondence, and shareholders' circulars concerning the company's liquidation, 1925-1934.
