(fols. 1-2) letter about Buxton's conversation with Hamad Abdul Qader, and giving an account of the rebellion in the Gaza-Beersheba division at the time of the Munich Conference (Sep 1938), the changing attitude of the people since then, and the counter-revolutionary movement, 16 Feb 1939
(fols. 3-5) the letter refers to an enclosed intelligence report [not in the folder], which gave a picture of the situation from the military point of view; Buxton quoted the view of Major Glubb that the Bedu could 'if well handled, be kept loyal and contented', and advocated the return to normal conditions, giving his opinion that the situation should be handled by the Administration and Police rather than by the Military.
