Folder 4: Printed despatches between the Governors, Boyle and Chancellor, and the Secretaries of State, Crewe and Harcourt, 13 Jan 1911-20 Feb 1914, covering the following subjects:
- afforestation
- immigration and Poor Law Departments
- irrigation in Mauritius, including the report by G.M. Harriett, Consulting Engineer
- medical services and the combat of malaria
- the police
- the proposed purchase of a new tug.
Folder 5: Copies of Confidential Despatches from the Governor, Chancellor, to the Secretary of State, Harcourt, 1911-1913:
- (fol. 1-3) two despatches, as indexed, 25 Nov-12 Dec 1911
- (fols. 4-135) 41 despatches, as indexed, 1 Jan-21 Dec 1912
- (fols. 136-190) 34 despatches, as indexed, 9 Jan-18 Dec 1913
- these despatches are in the Réduit Series of official papers which were kept at Government House, Le Réduit. An explanation of this practice, and an account of Chancellor's programme of work, is contained in Despatch No. RS8 of 1912 (fols. 33-35). Subjects covered include: agriculture; importation of Indian labour; legislature; naval and military resources; police; ports and harbours; railways; salaries of officials; shipping; and the Treasury.
Folder 6: Addresses presented to Chancellor on various occasions, 13 Nov 1911-18 Jul 1913:
- (items 1-17) on his arrival in Mauritius, presented by the Mayor and Corporation of Port Louis, the Chamber of Commerce, and other public bodies and groups of persons in the English, French, and Indian communities, 13 Nov 1911
- (item 18) on the occasion of prize-giving at Loreto High School, Port Louis, 18 Dec 1912
- (item 19) by Brother Girardus, St Joseph's College, Curepipe, congratulating Chancellor on his knighthood, 7 Jun 1913
- (item 20) by the Agricultural Bank of Triolet, a Co-operative Credit Society, following its establishment in accordance with the bye-laws drafted by Samuel Wilberforce (see MSS. Brit. Emp. s. 284/2 (1), folder 3, item 12), 18 Jul 1913.
