The letters:

  1. (fols. 246-248) encloses copy of Leverhulme's letter about the Directors to Rand [enclosure bound fol. 236]
  2. encloses copies of letters from Leverhulme to Trigge (fol. 249) and Glyns (fol. 250), the latter accompanied by a cover note from Gore-Brown to the Company (fol. 251): all concerning paying off the overdraft. Also passes on Leverhulme's figures for tonnage shipped by the Company and associates, and the text of Scarbrough's telegram about attendance at Executive Committee meeting. Endorsed with manuscript notes in Scarbrough's hand of points about Company business and a meeting with Leverhulme.

Both letters concerning:

  1. arrangements for paying off Glyns
  2. additional sums to be raised urgently, and methods of doing so
  3. the position of the new Directors, Knowles and Findlay, and meetings with them
  4. the market situation.
