(fols. 464-466) Two letters to Agent General:
- (fols. 464-465) 'Produce & General', on the difficulties of dealing with produce, especially on the Company's system, with congested ports, and speculation leading to 'superficial and dangerous' markets
- (fol. 466, copy at fol. 459) confirming cable despatched authorising '25% cash for Produce' and giving the reduction at Brass.
(fols. 467-470) Two letters to Agent-in-charge, Oguta;:
- (fols. 467-469) 'Produce & General' explaining the reasons for keeping buying prices low despite abnormal markets
- (fol. 470, copies at fols. 454, 458, 462) confirming cables exchanged about Company and competitors' price reductions.
(fol. 471) Letter to Agent-in-charge, Gregiani, 'Produce & General', anticipating 'a bumper season's trade at low prices'; present problems have made all River companies decide on buying cheap produce.
(fol. 472) Letter to Central Divisional Agent, Onitsha, confirming cable despatched asking for details of purchases by district.
(fols. 473-475) Two letters to Lagos office:
- (fols. 473-474) 'Produce & General', on transport and carriers for W.E. Thomas to Bukuru; the need for regular information about the state of port and rail congestion and merchants' views upon it; and Colonial Office meeting to discuss this scheduled
- (fol. 475, copies at fols. 463, 477) confirming cables exchanged about shipping hides and assisting Thomas.
(fol. 476) Letter to Burutu office confirming cables exchanged about tin and produce shipments (fols. 456-457, 461).
