The early correspondence files contain material distinct for each trust, but this distinction became increasingly blurred over time and there is much overlap between correspondence files from the 1970s onwards. In a letter dated 7 Jan 1981, Mr Carey, Solicitor and Trustee, noted that 'My filing system has abolished distinctions to the extent that all T.E. Lawrence matters are now dealt with in the same file' (MS. 64118/28). As such the files are arranged chronologically rather than by trust.
