Biographical / Historical
Maj-Gen. P.R. Wheatley, DSO, born 1909, son of a clergyman, Educated at St. Dunstan's College, Catford, and Guy's Hospital Medical School. Obtained a commission in the Royal Army Medical Corps, 1939, and served with the British Expeditionary Force, 1939-1943 and with the 2nd Indian Airborne Div., 1944-1946. Surgical Specialist in Europe, Singapore, and Japan, 1946-1960; served in Ghana Army Hospital, 1960-1961; and was Director of Army Surgery and Consulting Surgeon to the Army.
