Biographical / Historical

Lt.-Col. C.H.R. Hyde, son of a landed gentry family in Ireland. Educated at Shrewsbury School. Served in Burma (Myanmar), 1928; India, 1930-1933; Cyprus, 1933-1934; UK, 1934-1938; Hong Kong, 1938-1941; Singapore, 1941-1942; was a prisoner of war, 1942-1945; served in UK, 1946-1950; Berlin, 1950-1951; and with the Royal West African Frontier Force (RWAFF), 1951-1954.
