Biographical / Historical

Lt. J.A. Herbert (née Newton), daughter of a textile manufacturer and a nurse educated in Glasgow schools and hospital. Obtained a commission in Queen Alexandra's Royal Army Nursing Corps (QARANC), 1953, and served in West Africa, 1953-1958.
