Lt.-Col. S.F.B. Francis, TD, son of an Army officer. Educated at Forest School. Served in the UK, 1938-1942; Algeria, Italy, Palestine, and Austria, 1942-1946; Greece, 1946-1948; with Royal West African Frontier Force (RWAFF), 1948-1952; in the UK and Germany, 1955-1957; with RWAFF, 1957-1960; in Germany, 1960-1962; in Aden, 1962-1967. Zambian Army, 1968-1971.
