He asks if Buxton could furnish an introduction for Washington to Dennistoun, one of the members for Glasgow whom he himself did not know. He reports that he had not yet met McQueen's candidate for the post of agricultural agent to the expedition but that he would consult Lushington on it, and Samuel Gurney in due course. He quotes his letter of 5 Sep (see pp. 347-352) on his opinion of Gurney Hoare's proposal. He says he had seen Samuel Gurney on this matter and Buxton might like to discuss it with him while he was in his part of the country. Finally, he thanks him for the donation of £15 towards the fund for Dr Beke.
