Edward Buxton had suggested that the papers relating to Beke's affairs should be circulated to several committee members, and he had asked Robert Stokes to draft a covering letter, a copy of which he provides, appealing for subscriptions to support his venture by repaying those who had raised the whole £250 he required in order to catch the last overland mail to Alexandria. Cook asks for Buxton's opinion and for the names of those on the provisional committee list who could be approached in this way. Also includes a copy of that list.
