He outlines a plan for a series of reports following that of the old Anti-Slavery Reporter, which would inform the public about the Society and its aims and the situation in Africa and expresses willingness to contribute to such. He dissuades him from calling meetings of the general committee until there was something important to report, suggesting that sub-committees, the use of the press, and private influence could achieve more at the present time; he lists the number of sub-committees already in action. He regrets that Buxton had to leave at this particular time and that only Lushington seemed to be completely in his confidence, since there were so many problems of general policy to be decided for the society on subjects such as religious and secular education, domestic slavery, and the right person to take charge of the young Africans in England at that time; he suggests that someone from his own university, Cambridge, should be selected for this task. Beldam explains what he had done about amendments to the Questions in preparation at that time, offers his help as far as his health and other engagements would permit, and finally suggests that there should be representatives of every denomination on the Society's committee. Appended is a series of draft resolutions presented at the meeting of the Society in Jul 1839.
