He disagrees that the remnant of this fund should be restored to the original subscribers and could almost guarantee that, with a few exceptions, they would agree to the money being used to liquidate the debt, but he had scruples about this. He had consulted some friends about this and if they overruled his scruples, he would agree to the money being used for the debt. He agrees with him that the debt was probably not £1,200 and argues that £654 could be obtained by selling off the house. He guarantees Gurney Hoare against liability if he should pay off the debt for them. (Copy.)
