Aware of imperfections in his work, he nonetheless hoped that it would be a means of introducing Christianity into Central Africa. On the eve of his departure for Africa with his wife, he recalls the pleasure of staying with Buxton at Northrepps and the kindness of Hannah; his wife joined in sending respects to them both.
