He reports that the Governor of Jamaica was prepared to patronise their Society's work for Africa. He regrets that he had been able to do so little for the two societies since these events, due to his own weakness, but he was holding a public meeting in a few days' time, despite being worried about his own health. Nevertheless, he felt that what he was able to do for the Mico Charity alone would have justified the expense of the journey.
