He reports that W.E. Forster has just left with Buxton for a meeting with Inglis and one or two others before the General Committee's meeting. He also records Buxton's refusal to go to Paris to assist in the anti-slavery cause there on the grounds that he could not speak French and would therefore be of no help. He promises to send an account of the Parliament Street meeting the following day and asks Priscilla Johnston, on her father's behalf, to write to Dr Philip, from whom he had not heard for some time.
