Buxton to Lord John Russell, supporting Captain Cook's request that his salary as one of the Commissioners of the Niger Expedition should begin from 1 Aug 1840, because he had relinquished the business that had provided him with adequate support in order to further the plans of the expedition and because he had been promised a salary at least from 1 Oct, 29 Jul 1841
