Buxton to Joseph John Gurney, about the information he had received from a man who had lived for ten years near Elmina, the Dutch settlement near Cape Coast Castle, where the Dutch were buying Black people to send as soldiers to Java; though the Dutch did not intend them to remain enslaved, the same mistreatment occurred as with any other slave trade, 17 Jul 1841
He asks him to call the attention of the Dutch Government to the evils of this situation and to try to persuade them to bring it to an end. (Copy.)
