- Richenda Buxton to Andrew Johnston, about the family's opposition to the government and the strangeness of having The Times praising Buxton and rebuking the Globe for calling Lushington's speech silly. She comments on Edward's speech, which she claims was very badly reported, and remarks that for once the Buxtons were more spectators of great events. She also comments on the friendly attitude of the Tories to the African Society over the sugar duties (copy), 18 May 1841
- Amelia Opie to Anna Gurney, about how Edward's speech had been 'clamoured down' by Chartists and Ministers, 1841.
