- Buxton to William E. Forster, announcing the acquisition of Fernando Po (Bioko) but warning him not to say anything about it. He asks for his help in drawing up a memorial to the government on the advisability of sending one or two ships to the east coast of Africa to choose a suitable station from which to organise measures to suppress the slave trade and for pouring British goods, Christian missionaries, and schoolteachers into Africa. He tells him that he could provide him with information on this matter if he would do the writing (copy), 30 Apr 1841
- The Record; report of the departure of the 'Albert' from Deptford, the paying of her crew at Woolwich, and imminent departure with the 'Wilberforce' for the Niger, 29 Apr 1841.
