A printed letter recalling his ministry in that parish twenty years before, the coming of emancipation, and the way in which they could serve the cause of Africa by supporting the African Civilization Society with prayer, by forming a branch society, by teaching their children about their improved state, and including Africa in their daily family prayers, as well as by bearing in mind that Africa needed missionaries, teachers, agriculturalists, tradesmen, and settler families from the West Indies.
