Buxton to Gurney Hoare, about the subscriptions from Andrew Johnston and Anna Gurney, which he was sending, and describing the journey taken in a sledge that morning with the Johnstons and their son Andrew, which ended in them all being thrown off into the snow, the only damage being that he had received a blow on the nose (copy), 13 Jan 1841
  2. The Times, a description of the 'Soudan', the smallest of the three vessels, 14 Jan 1841
  3. The Times report of an interview granted to the Ashanti princes by Lord John Russell, 14 Jan 1841.
