He regrets the loss of such a good opportunity by the Agricultural Association but recognises Cook's point of view and their own good fortune in having enlisted his help and experience in such matters. He was sending an extract from McQueen's letter and had advised him to see Cook about the person named. Cook might consult Lushington and Samuel Gurney and appoint the man if suitable; he would himself share the responsibility. He offers to pay his share of any loss incurred by financing Beke and subscribes £45 from himself, Joseph John Gurney, and Anna Gurney towards Beke's expedition. He believed the committees should begin work again in Oct and proposes a meeting after his return to London on 8 Oct.
