- Catherine Buxton to Priscilla Johnston, about the amount of work to be done now that the house had been sold and about Buxton's health, describing him as not as strong as she thought he was and troubled by sleepless nights. She mentions that he had been to Dr Babington and had had the swelling on his face removed. She adds that she longed for Hannah to be there as she did not think Buxton was receiving the attention he required simply because he feared to ask too much of her (copy), 23 May 1840
- Catherine Buxton to Priscilla Johnston; a further report on how tired Buxton seemed to be despite not working very hard, though he had attended two meetings with her the previous day and intended to visit Lushington that day to arrange speakers for the Exeter Hall meeting (copy), 25 May 1840.
