Catherine Buxton to Anna Gurney and Charles Buxton, about her curiosity to know what they have been doing, commiserating with Charles over his discomfort on the Adriatic, and mentioning the cold weather in England, n.d.
She refers to Buxton's occupation with the Exeter Hall meeting and saying that they did not expect Prince Albert to participate but that she hoped the Johnstons would be willing to take part. She writes of the sale of the Devonshire Street house, the visit of Edmund and Mary to dinner, Mary's frailty, and the temptation to Edward and herself to buy a house near them at Chigwell. In postscripts, she records that the other group of travellers had crossed the Alps safely and that they had received a good account from Bavaria [from Anna and Charles?] dated 16 May.
