Buxton to Andrew Johnston, about the information he would have liked from him on the state of the mines since he had not heard from the Company's office, 24 Dec 1839
He relates the terms of a loan quoted by an Italian 'banker' he met at an inn on a mountaintop when he and Anna found themselves short of money; the banker later proved to be the chief post-boy of their cavalcade. He praises Priscilla's long letters and adds that he had intended to write to her but since Hannah was recovered from her attack, he was taking her for their first excursion in Rome. (Copy.)
