- Buxton to Anna Gurney, about the possible appointment as tutor of a curate known to Trew who had been expelled from the United States for preaching an anti-slavery sermon. Matthew Hutton and William Forster had approved of him. He records Palmerston's promise that his papers would travel by diplomatic bag (copy), 9 Nov 1839
- Buxton to Mrs Upcher, about the impression made by his book following publication of a certain article in The Times (copy), 8 Nov 1840 [sic].
