He was reluctant to end that Society until they had set up another because of the four things yet to be done regarding the state of slavery in India, the 'hill coolies', liberated Africans, and the slave trade. He suspected that Forster had been moved to this by Joseph Sturge, who was ambitious to be leader of the anti-slavery movement. Buxton remarks that he would be welcome to this if he thought he could do it, but his group was more likely to act boldly than with deliberation and Buxton feared that many people would consider themselves unable to support Sturge since he surpassed the Quakers regarding violence. However, he doubts whether it would be wise to continue the present Society. He suggests that if Lushington could not go to the office, the Committee could meet at his house, mentions that he would be in London for the meeting of the Mico Trustees on the Wednesday, and angles for an invitation to dinner for himself and Andrew Johnston since he wanted to discuss the slave trade with him.
