Promising to let him see the book on the slave trade at the earliest possible moment but explaining that he had undertaken not to reveal its contents yet and was, in any case, without a copy at that time. He asks who had told him about the book, warning that it was desirable that as little as possible should be said about it at that time. He also asks who had won the war between Dingaan and the Boers.
