Priscilla Johnston to Buxton, about her pleasure that his book had caught the attention of the Ministers, and her disinclination to be more hopeful than that at present, preferring to place her trust in God rather than in the Cabinet, 11 Oct 1838
She hopes that the Queen had indeed read the book and that the Ministers would have the courage to act. She mentions her anxiety over the wage situation still being unsettled in the West Indies and the squatting in Trinidad, and her longing to hear what the Mico Charity was doing and the prospect of a [donation] from the Ironmongers to help the Niger project.
