About the questions he had drawn up for him to put to Captain Leaks and the conversation he had had with him, recording the information gained on the slave trade in Tripoli, Barbary (North Africa), Persia (Iran), Arabia, Turkey, Bokara (Bukhara), and the interior of Africa, the capitation fee collected by the Pasha of Egypt, slave-holding in those areas, and the probable effect of an appeal to self-interest in the suppression of the slave trade. He includes a number of references to useful books supplied by Leake, and the latter's promise to provide more information on certain specified points and to peruse their work when compilation was complete.
