She describes meeting her father in the Strand afterwards, their journey by river to London Bridge and Buxton's subsequent visit to the Colonial Office, which cheered him because of the action of the government over the apprenticeship and the West Indians and over the slave trade question and because he was told that the government missed him from Parliament. She refers to the debate intended for that evening, in which 300 amendments were to be moved on the apprenticeship matter.
