- Buxton to Sarah Buxton, asking for a letter from Jeremie, referred to in the previous letter, in which he wholly approves of Buxton's actions and which Buxton interprets as a vindication of his attitude towards apprenticeship. He comments on the government's misrepresentation of his actions in the Debate, the abuse he had suffered, and his protests to the government (copy), 2 Apr 1838
- Buxton to Sir George Stephen, regarding the Delegates' refusal to allow him to propose a motion urging tranquillity among the Black community and observance of the laws until the end of apprenticeship and his consequent inability to attend their meeting at Exeter Hall on 4 Apr, a matter which he regrets as he had wanted an opportunity to answer the accusations of Sir George Grey, Lord John Russell, and Lord Howick (copy), 3 Apr 1838.
