Joseph John Gurney, from Baltimore, to his sister-in-law Elizabeth Fowler, 25 Jan-2 Feb 1838
About the meeting in the Capitol, his sermon, a second meeting on the same day at a neighbouring town, and the journey to Indian Spring in Maryland, where he stayed with a friend, Hannah Hopkins, then to Baltimore. He describes fully the three meetings held there on the Sunday, at which he preached to thousands of people and held sittings with families in between. At one meeting all the members were of the Hicksite movement, at another, they were exclusively of mixed heritage. (Copy.)
