Elizabeth Fry, from Paris, to her sisters, giving her views on the moral state of France and the power of the priests, the movement to improve the prisons, and the willingness of the French to listen to her ideas on them, listing the subjects most likely to occupy her while in Paris, 7 Feb 1838
She comments on the kind reception afforded her by everyone from the ambassador and his wife downwards and describes a meeting held by some Friends, the attendance at their meeting, her feelings about the recovery of France from the power of the Bastille, the party thrown by an American for her to meet about fifty people, and the assistance rendered her by her husband and by Josiah Forster.
