Account by Sarah Buxton of what her brother had told them of his activities since leaving Northrepps on 20 Nov, including two meetings with the verbose Dr Philip, Buxton's arrival at Bellfield to find that his uncle had been taken ill, the two presentation ceremonies, Buxton's and Edward's speeches at the dinner, and the reactions of those listening to them, 7 Dec 1837
She quotes some verses that appeared in the local newspaper the following day, belittling his opponents. She records Buxton's visit to the Anti-Slavery Society on his return to town and the address on the revision of the West Indian laws about to be presented to Glenelg, and his visit to him with the delegation at which he discovered that the Colonial Secretary's views exactly matched his own. She also describes the visit to Upton on the Sunday in order to hear Elizabeth Fry speak, followed by his journey home.
