George Henry Davis to Buxton, thanking him for his benevolent exertions on behalf of an unnamed boy [possibly the son of Mrs Beddow], and saying that Buxton's name had always been associated in his mind with the release of the prisoner and the freeing of the enslaved, 7 Aug 1837
He refers to his own exertions on Buxton's behalf at the election, which went beyond the prescribed path of a minister, and his sorrow at the result but acceptance of the defeat as providential when he learned that another session might have been the cause of Buxton's death.
