Charles Buxton of Bellfield to Buxton, asking whether he approved of his reply to Chamberlaine's letter, telling him that some young admirers at Weymouth were intending to give Buxton a silver snuffbox, and asking him to decide whether his arms alone should appear on it or those of his wife as well and for a perfect impression of it on his next letter's seal, 6 Aug 1837

He begs for his address while out of London, thanking him for having received some money on his behalf and for sending him some claret, congratulating him on making a settlement with the Brewery, and observing that he must be experiencing great peace of mind now that he was out of Parliament, knowing that he had done his duty. He expresses the hope that he would now be given a lofty title. He mentions that many who had voted against Buxton had wanted to subscribe to the piece of plate to be presented to him but were refused, and asks for information about a certain Brassey, who had been in the wine trade twenty-five years before and had failed and was, apparently, an undischarged bankrupt, which prevented him from voting. He finally asks him to thank Stephen for his gift of the Book of the Horse.
