Thomas Macaulay, from Calcutta (Kolkata), to his father, about the proposed celebration of the first birthday of Zachary Macaulay's granddaughter with a puppet show, 12 Oct 1836
He writes about the progress of his penal code for India, the English schools there, the way in which some Hindus, but not Muslims, tended to move away from their faith after being educated in them, and he compares the influence of the two religions. He regrets the death of Mill at the India House [Office?], whose son was then in Calcutta (Kolkata). (Copy.)
