Joseph John Gurney to Anna Gurney and Sarah Buxton, about his regret at their not having met, inviting them to visit him in the next week, and about the value of the report and the part Anna had played in compiling it, 11 Apr 1837
He describes his preparations for his long visit to America and remarks on his own 'infirmities of mind' and the conclusion of a phrenologist that he was a coward, the way the Forsters were settling, and the transfer of his sister to his own [Friends'] meeting. He mentions the idea of printing a small book of verse on his departure to 'help a few poor souls by dint of verse' and reports on his sister Catherine, who was at Runcton.
