General George John Hall to Buxton, asking several questions about his intended action in the next parliamentary session over compensation to the Mauritians, accusing him of abandoning enslaved people for the sake of expediency, betraying Byam, and disregarding the documental proofs submitted by himself and others like him regarding the injustices in Mauritius and the spuriousness of the Registry, 31 Dec 1835
He complains of the way the Colonial Office had ignored his early plan for a reformed method of registering enslaved people and of his recall from the island and removal from all further employment. Finally, he gives Buxton full permission to make whatever use of the letter he wished.
