Priscilla Johnston to Sarah Buxton, about the need and demand for schools in the West Indies and Buxton's work to supply them through the Wilberforce Fund, the Mico Fund, and the help of the Church Missionary Society, 25 Mar 1835
She writes of the good reports from the West Indies and those who expressed concerns about the situation that had visited them that day. She mentions O'Connell's pledge to bring calm to Ireland were he to become Attorney-General in the next Ministry, and Buxton's opinion that the Whigs had made a mistake in not buying O'Connell's loyalty when they had the chance. Finally, she recounts the Bishop of London's report of what the Bishop of Jamaica had said about the success of the new wage system there. (Copy.)
