She mentions the case put by the Bishop of Barbados and the deputation to Spring Rice, and expresses the hope that Buxton need not now raise the matter in the House of Commons or send an address to the King about Anglican missionaries being sent to the West Indies. She recounts Buxton's advice to the Church Missionary Society to give the Bishop one more chance, his annoyance with Spring Rice because he would not allocate money for the reform of West Indian gaols, a story told by James Stephen about their old enemy Burge, and the effect his opposition to abolition had had on obtaining Emancipation.
