Zachary Macaulay to Buxton, discussing Clarkson's views on the Anti-Slavery Society, which agreed with their own, Brougham's speech at York on 3 Oct, the need to consult Lushington about the French Convention, and the delicacy of approaching De Broglie about a matter under negotiation with the British Government, 7 Oct 1833
He mentions the possibility of Buxton's speech of 24 Jul being printed in the West Indian newspapers and as a separate leaflet. He regrets his inability to accept Buxton's invitation to visit Cromer, reports his decision to proceed no further with a suit, but to pay the demand and the costs early in Nov, and his acceptance of the residue of the John Bull Fund. He agrees with Clarkson over the Agency's treatment of Burton.
