He tells her that all day he had been obsessed with the desire to work for others through Christ. He observes that others overrated his talents but that she must join him in prayer that he might not neglect the opportunities offered for doing good. He tells her that earlier he had longed to attend the Meeting in Goat Lane and be instructed by Joseph John Gurney and Priscilla. He asks her to tell the former that he thought about him often and of how much he was doing what he longed to do. He outlines his programme until his return home.
