This had made him wish to devote that his life to checking crime. He asks her to pray that it might be dedicated to the honour of God and the happiness of man. He is sure his mission would not take him abroad but that it would nonetheless be a mission. He ends with an account of his day's activities, including a ride home from church with Rachel.
