- item 1 (fols. 1-72) Somaliland travel diary, manuscript with verses, and a sketch of a Somali head, 1921
- item 2 (fols. 1-54) 'Somaliland by M.P. (A kind of diary-study of voyage and travels in Berbera)', manuscript, 1921
- item 3 (fols. 1-17) three sections of a diary, typescript with one manuscript sheet, a letter from Customs and Excise about the loss of her revolver, and newspaper reports of her subsequent lectures on her travels, Apr, Jul, Aug 1921-1923
- item 4 (fols. 1-138) a notebook containing essays on 'Hargeisa and its people', 'The Irish of the East', 'The Drought', 'Animals - Birds and Insects', and 'The Political Situation'. The first section was written when contemplating turning her observations into a novel [see Major Dane's Garden]. At the back is a fragment of a novel based on school life; labelled by her 'Two attempts at novels (1) Berbera & Hargeisa diary (2) Start of a school novel', n.d.
- item 5 (fols. 1-36) diary letters addressed to Ethel Rayne and observations on Margery Perham's visit to Lady Max-Müller, wife of the Minister to Poland, whom she accompanied on visits to Polish aristocrats, one presented in fictional form; included is a letter from Dr Adolf Abrahams of Berlin, whom she met on the train, Apr 1927
- item 6 (fols. 1-50) diary labelled by her 'College. Rhodes Trust (Kerr). Some Basutoland, N.Z. & Samoa diary sup.', Jul 1927-1930.
