item 3 (fols. 1-17) three sections of a diary, typescript with one manuscript sheet, a letter from Customs and Excise about the loss of her revolver, and newspaper reports of her subsequent lectures on her travels, Apr, Jul, Aug 1921-1923
item 4 (fols. 1-138) a notebook containing essays on 'Hargeisa and its people', 'The Irish of the East', 'The Drought', 'Animals - Birds and Insects', and 'The Political Situation'. The first section was written when contemplating turning her observations into a novel [see Major Dane's Garden].
